Windy weather in Egypt on Sunday: Metrological Authority

Windy weather continues on Sunday in most of Egypt, with a morning fog likely to affect visibility for drivers along the northern coast, Cairo, and Suez Canal cities, Metrological Authority said Saturday.

The wind may be accompanied by rainfall along the northern coast.

The weather will be slightly cold in northern Upper Egypt, while southern Upper Egypt will see moderate weather in the morning and colder weather at night.

Turbulent weather is expected on the Red Sea, with waves reaching two to 2.5 metres high, while the Mediterranean will see waves from 1.5 to two metres high.

The Red Sea Port Authority will close on Sunday four ports in Suez and Hurghada due to bad weather conditions that can affect maritime navigation, Al-Ahram Arabic website reported.

The Alexandria Port Authority closed on Saturday two major Alexandria ports due to bad weather and increased wind speed, state news agency MENA reported.

On Saturday, the country witnessed windy conditions nationwide with sandstorms and rainfall.

In the southern governorate of Sohag, authorities declared a state of emergency on Saturday over the stormy weather conditions.

In Minya, also in Upper Egypt, school has been canceled on Sunday over sandstorms, Al-Ahram Arabic website said.

On Sunday, Cairo will see temperatures of 20 Celsius during the day and 14 at night, while the northern coast will reach an average of 18 during the day and 13 at night.

Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh will see temperatures on average a 24 high and a 13 low.
