Europe’s leading rail, Vossloh announced on Monday that it will supply rail fastening systems for Egypt’s first high-speed line through a contract amounted €40 million ($42.1 million) to save journey time for millions of Egyptian citizens.
Egypt’s National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) plans to connect between El-Alamein and Ain Sokhna by a new route operates up to 250km/h, while the second phase will link between El Alamein and Marsa Matrouh with a 200km extension.
The delivery of the rail fastening systems scheduled to begin already this year, with completion of the project expected in 2024, according to Vossloh’s statement.

“We are delighted to be able to make a substantial contribution to this landmark project in this region,” Jan Furnivall, chief operating officer at Vossloh, said.
The new line serving the sustainability as it expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 70 percent when compared with road transport.
The construction comes under a turnkey contract awarded by the NAT to Siemens Mobility, Orascom Construction and the Arab Contractors in 2021.
Egypt plans additional massive investments in its rail network over the next few years. In addition to expand the particular establishment of a high-speed network over 1,800 km in the future.
