The nationwide death toll from Friday’s political violence stands at two, with the total number of injuries estimated at 139, Health Minister Mohamed Mostafa Hamed announced Friday night.
Both were killed in Alexandria, including an Egyptian whose identity remains unknown who succumbed to gunshot wounds and a 21-year-old US national who was stabbed to death.
Total injuries in Alexandria have been estimated at 88, according to the health ministry. Two were injured in Cairo, meanwhile, with another seven hurt in Gharbiya, seven in Beheira and 34 in Daqahliyah.
Clashes erupted on Friday between opponents and supporters of President Mohamed Morsi in several Egyptian governorates, including Alexandria, Gharbiya, Daqahliyah, Kafr Al-Sheikh and Beheira.
