Suit of Deposing President Mohamed Morsi Rejected: Court

The Heliopolis Court of Misdemeanor, headed by Judge Gamal Hetta, rejected the misdemeanor brought by Dr Mohamed Abdel Aal, the Chairman of Social Justice Party, against President Mohamed Morsi. It called for deposing the president, as he didn’t implement the verdict of the Supreme Constitutional Court over dissolving the People’s Assembly.
The lawsuit’s documents, which are under No. 10562/2012, explained that President Mohamed Morsi issued a decree on July 8th that provides for reinstating the People’s Assembly, which had been dissolved by the highest judiciary court in Egypt.
It added that the decree represents a crime of refraining from implementing a judicial verdict, according to the article 123 of  Egyptian Panel Code, “public bodies refuse to enforce judgement, would be punished by imprisonment or deposing”.
The lawsuit, which was filed by the Chairman of Social Justice Party, Editor-in-chief of Al Watan Al Arabi, and an MP of the dissolved council, called for implementing extreme penalty on the president and fining him EGP 10.000, a temporary civil compensation.
