The State Meteorological Agency stated on Monday that last month was Spain’s hottest and driest April since records began in 1961.
Recorded average temperature on Monday was 3 degrees Celsius above the usual average. Average maximum temperatures during April have increased by 4.7 Celsius.
Spain is also witnessing long-term drought threatening to cause irreversible losses to the country’s agricultural land. A recent study revealed record- high temperature witnessed in Spain, along other Mediterranean countries, was only made possible by climate change.
