Cairo Criminal Court released on Thursday Muslim Brotherhood (MB) businessman Hassan Malek on bail worth 20,000 Egyptian pounds.
In related news, the owner of a money exchange company, Karam Abdel Wahab, and a tax collection officer, Ahmed Mohamed Saeed, have also been released on 20,000 pounds-bail for each, over charges of “joining a terrorist group and damaging the national economy.”
The lawyer of Malek called for the release of the defendant citing the fact that his client has been detained pending investigation for two years.
Meanwhile, Malek said during the session that he was being tried for the same charge by another court, in the case known in the media as ‘The Al-Azhar Militia case’; something that does not make sense: to be tried twice over the same charges.
