Around twenty protesters staged a demonstration in front of President Mohamed Morsi’s house in Al-Qawmeya district in Zagazig city, the capital of Sharqiya Governorate, on Friday.
The young protesters chanted against the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi, according to Al-Ahram Arabic language news website.
Police intensified security in front of the president’s house and formed a cordon around the protesters, who chanted against the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi.
The protesters moved on to the governorate headquarters, cutting off the road in front of it and halting traffic.
Seven of the protesters then moved on to the Freedom and Justice Party offices, carrying Molotov cocktails. However, local people prevented them from attempting to damage the building.
Ahram’s reporter in Sharqiya, Adel Mahmoud, told Ahram Online that the “protesters who were planning to burn down the Freedom and Justice Party offices had burned the gate of the local Muslim Brotherhood headquarters on Thursday. That is why the local people identified them and stopped them.”
Mahmoud said that five of the protesters were in their early twenties, while the rest of the protesters were teenagers.
President Mohamed Morsi comes from Sharqiya Governorate and still maintains a residence there, although on Friday he was not present.
