Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi stressed on Monday that no one is above accountability when it comes to human rights violations, in comments made at a meeting in Cairo with the head of Egypt’s semi-governmental National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Mohamed Fayek.
Fayek discussed with Al-Sisi the recent visits by the council to Egyptian police stations and prisons, according to a statement issued on Monday evening by the presidency.
The head of the NCHR also congratulated the president for completing the political roadmap adopted on 3 July and the conclusion of the parliamentary elections, which the council observed.
The presidency added in its statement that Al-Sisi stressed on the commitment of the Egyptian state to uphold the values of justice, accountability and human rights.
