President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a plenary meeting Saturday with a number of representatives to the UN of more than 50 countries.
The Egyptian president welcomed the UN representatives who are currently visiting Egypt within the framework of participating in an international forum on means of dealing with challenges and threats facing the international community, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Yousef.
President Sisi pointed out to the special attention Egypt attaches to the UN and multilateral international action, stressing Egypt’s commitment towards cooperating with the international parties to achieve the principles and goals of the UN charter that aim at establishing stability and boosting democracy and development, said the spokesman.
The president stressed the importance of making the 70th anniversary of the UN’s founding an opportunity to achieve more international support on development issues.
He pointed out to Egypt’s interest to formulate the new development plan according to a vision that includes all the UN development activities and which meets the needs of the developing countries.
The president also affirmed Egypt’s commitments towards boosting the UN efforts in the peaceful settlement of disputes especially in the Middle East region and Africa, added the spokesman.
