Head of the Red Sea Ports Affairs Hassan Fallah ordered on Saturday the closure of Suez’s five ports due to strong winds and high waves.
Port Tawfiq, focusing on passenger traffic, and Port Sokhna and El-Adabeiya Port, which mainly received trade, were included in the closure decision. El-Zayteyat Port, a hub for petroleum traffic, was also closed.
The wind increased to 46km per hour and waves reached four metres high.
Egypt’s north coast, parts of Sinai, and Cairo all saw rain on Saturday, which is expected to continue on Sunday.
However, officials have said that flights at Cairo International Airport have not been affected by the bad weather conditions.
