Qatar’s tourism revenue increased by 32.3 percent to 12.7 billion riyals during the first six months of this year, according to current account data released by the Qatar Central Bank on Saturday.
The jump in tourism and transport revenue during contributed to a 12.4 percent year-on-year (YoY) reduction in the service account deficit to about 12 billion riyals, balance-of-payments data showed.
Qatar aims to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP from 7 to 12% by 2030 by attracting six million tourists annually, according to the National Tourism Sector Vision.
