The number of tourists visiting Egypt during decreased by 41.9 percent in July 2016 compared to the same period of 2015.
In July 2016, the number of tourists coming to Egypt recorded 529,200 versus 911,600 in July 2015, the monthly bulletin of state’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released Monday showed.
This drop was due to the 60 percent decline in number of Russian tourists visiting Egypt, followed by UK whose number of tourists fell by 17.5 percent then Germany (10.4 percent), and Poland (3.8 percent).
The bulletin stated that Saudi Arabia captured 40.5 percent of the total number of tourists coming to Egypt in July 2016 followed by Western Europe that seized 31.1 percent of the total number and Eastern Europe with 10.3 percent of the total number.
The CAPMAS noted that the number of tourists coming from Arab states rose by 28.1 percent in July 2016 to 233,500 from 182,200 a year earlier, getting 44.1 percent of total tourists number.
