Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Frans Timmermans is visiting Egypt today. In Cairo he will speak with politicians and representatives of civil society organizations. The goal of the visit is to emphasize that the Netherlands is committed to a democratic and inclusive transition process in Egypt.
Timmermans will speak amongst others with the interim President, the Prime Minister and his counterpart the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He will also meet with a number of political key players, amongst whom a delegation of the National Salvation Front, the National Alliance for Legitimacy and the Nour Party. Furthermore he will exchange ideas with youth representatives, human rights defenders and bloggers.
With Minister Timmermans’ visit, the Netherlands joins the efforts of EU-member states and the United States to support Egypt in its ongoing transition.
