The media figure Dina Abdel Fattah said on Wednesday that Egypt witnesses a campaign of systematic arrests of opponents in Egypt, most recently the arrest of the former Member of Parliament Hamdy Al Fakhrany over charges for violence against the Muslim Brotherhood.
During her address at “Down with fascism” Conference held at Leadership and Management Development Center on Wednesday, Abdel Fattah stressed that Egypt’s governorates have become in an urgent need for real protection to stop the campaign of the systematic arrests of opponents launched by the regime for the benefit of the Muslim Brotherhood.
She affirmed that the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Member of Parliament Abou Elela Mady shall be investigated over their claims that Egypt’s General Intelligence Service formed militias of 300,000 thugs. She described these claims as being destructive to one of the state’s strong institutions which is the General Intelligence Service.
The political activists Alaa Abdel Fattah and Mervat Moussa have endorsed the initiative launched by Dina Abdel Fattah for holding the president Mohamed Morsi and Abou Elela Mady accountable for releasing statements that harm the Intelligence Service.
