Saudi fashion designer, Mohammed Ashi has joined France’s haute couture federation, making him the first couturier from the Gulf region to join the federation, he announced on Monday.
His label, Ashi Studio, will have its first show as part of the official line-up of Paris Fashion Week’s haute couture shows on July 6.
“This appointment is the highlight of my career, this recognition brings me the greatest emotion, it offers me the opportunity to share with you who I am,” said Ashi in a statement.
Ashi launched his label in Beirut in 2007, then moved his headquarters later in 2018 to Paris.
Ashi’s designs have been worn by A-list celebrities like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Deepika Padukone, and Queen Rania of Jordan.
Ashi has been a mentor for Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission, which was set up in 2020 to help build a homegrown industry.
