Mark Zuckerberg‘s net worth increased by $10.2 billion on Thursday after shares of Facebook’s parent company Meta rose by nearly 14 percent, lifting Zuckerberg’s fortune, news agency Bloomberg reported.
Zuckerberg, founder and chief executive of Meta, now is the 12th-richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The Facebook co-founder derives most of his fortune from his 13 percent stake in Meta.
Meta Platforms earned a net profit of $5.7 billion in the quarter ending March 31, a jump of 22.7 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2022 and beating analysts’ estimates after the company slashed expenses and 11,000 jobs.
It is worth mentioning that Zuckerberg’s current fortune stands in stark contrast to 2022, when his wealth plunged by about $70 billion in the first nine months of the year.
