Huawei Egypt signed a collaboration pact with the Egyptian Maintenance Company (EMC) to focus on green ICT to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, Amwal Al Ghad Arabic reported on Tuesday.
Under this agreement, Huawei will provide integrated energy solutions to EMC, specifically targeting low-carbon data centre facilities with high energy efficiency levels, the statement said.
These facilities will incorporate sustainable environmental systems that utilise artificial intelligence and big data technologies. Additionally, smart photovoltaic (PV) solutions and smart PV energy storage systems will be implemented.
Joey Ding, CEO of Huawei Egypt’s Digital Power Business, emphasised the potential of the information and communication technology sector in reducing global carbon emissions by 20 per cent in the next decade.
The agreement was signed on the side-lines of Egypt’s 7th International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2024), taking place from February 19-21, the statement mentioned.
