The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is expected to be inaugurated within 2020, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania Al Mashat said on Friday.
The museum will be fully-managed by the private sector in line with the Egyptian government’s plan to enable private firms to manage ancient sites, the minister revealed during an interview with CNN.
“We are thinning different about the tourism sector, which 98 percent of it led by the private sector, and this is something we are very proud of,” she remarked.
The minister expressed her excitement about the GEM project, adding that it would carry Egypt’s message to the world.
Moreover, Al Mashat maintained that Egypt was keen on achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in collaboration with the private sector.
