Heba El-Sedaway, founder of Ahl Masr Foundation, will soon be opening the first burn hospital in the region, according to Egypt Today.
Over an area of 24,000 square metres in New Cairo, the hospital is set to provide medical services for burn victims, in addition to psychiatric treatment, outreach programs, and social rehabilitation.
The NGO – established in 2013 to aid Egyptians with heart problems, eye injuries, and burns – is now set to focus on a neglected population in Egypt, which has a mortality rate of 37 per cent.
The treatment of the burn victims will not be limited to only plastic surgeries, but it will also be providing them with proper medication that is often unaffordable. Utilising 60 beds, 20 intensive care units, and a team of highly qualified healthcare professionals, the hospital will also be employing other methods such as music therapy treatments, as well as alternative medicine, given its importance in the enhancement of psychological well-being.
