Egypt’s strategic wheat reserves are enough to last until mid-February, the country’s supply ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Egypt’s state grain buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), said on Tuesday it had bought 60,000 tonnes of Russian wheat in a tender.

A country of 90 million, Egypt is the world’s largest importer of the grain.
