Egypt’s interior ministry said on Wednesday morning that police killed a member of the now banned Muslim Brotherhood during a raid on a hideout in Ismailia in the early hours of the day.
In an official statement, the ministry said Hassan Mohamed Galal Mostafa- a student at Al-Azhar- was killed after he initiated a shootout with officers.
According to the police, Mostafa was wanted in a High State Security case that includes terrorist groups Hasm and the Lewaa Al-Thawra, two militant groups who have claimed responsibility for several assassinations of public figures and security forces in recent months.
The announcement comes only few days after the ministry said police killed four militants during a raid in Giza’s town of Kerdasa on the outskirts of Cairo.
The men were killed after they opened fire on security forces ahead of a meeting they were holding to discuss carrying out a major terrorist operation, police said.
