The number of internet users in Egypt rose by around 1.4 million in May, said Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday.
According to the ministry’s report, the total number of internet users reached 85.8 million in May, going up from 84.4 million in April.
The number of subscribers to mobile internet services climbed to 71.9 million in May, going up from 70.7 million in April, rising by 1.2 million subscribers.
There was also an increase in the number of terrestrial internet users, by 90,000 new subscribers, to reach 11.46 million subscribers in May.
The number of Internet subscribers through USB modems soared by about 30,000 new subscribers in May to 2.36 million subscribers.
The ministry also said that the number of mobile service subscribers inched up by 0.18 percent during May, to reach 103.1 million subscribers.
On an annual basis, the mobile market witnessed a growth of 6.6 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 103.09 million subscribers in May.
There was also a growth in the number of landline users by 2.6 percent in May.
