The newly-appointed Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nabil Fahmy, had a phone call with the Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. Both ministers tackled some critical regional issues; giving preference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the efforts to resume peace process as well as the developments over the Syrian crisis.
Fahmy explained to Lavrov the significant features of the democratic transitional period and the interior developments in Egypt besides the determined steps, which provided in the constitutional declaration.
Fahmy confirmed that the Egyptian government is committed to achieve real democracy without ruling out any political current as long as they adhere to the peaceful means and respect the law.
Lavrov has voiced his country’s support to Egypt at this critical period of its history; looking forward to ending the transitional period successfully in a way that achieve the Egyptian people’s wishes and ambitions.
