The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) on Tuesday issued a statement expressing its sorrow for the lives lost in Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing in the US.
The bombing left at least three dead and 140 injured. The perpetrator – or perpetrators – has yet to be unidentified.
“The FJP offers its heartfelt sympathies and solemn condolences to the American people and the families of the victims and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” read the party’s English-language statement.
The party went on to stress that Islamic Law, which is embraced by the FJP as a “framework of reference,” strictly forbids attacks that target civilians and that “terrorise the innocent, regardless of their religion, race, colour or sex.”
The statement, published on the Muslim Brotherhood’s official English-language website ikhwanweb, added: “The heinous attacks in Boston highlight the need for the international community to unite in order to achieve justice and decent lives for all peoples and communities to ensure that such violent and tragic crimes aren’t repeated.”
