Egypt registered 479 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total infection tally to 92,062 since the outbreak began in February, according to a health ministry statement.
The health ministry also reported 48 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 4.606.
The statement said that 928 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 33,831.

In addition according to a senior official at the country’s health ministry, Egypt is nearing to record zero serious coronavirus cases in condition of citizens continue to wear masks, practice social distancing and adhere to safety guidelines.
Egypt has been recording less than 1,000 coronavirus cases per day for more than two weeks now.
Earlier on Sunday vice president of the health ministry’s scientific committee Jihan El-Assal said the ministry has started to gradually close down quarantine hospitals due to the declining number of patients.
She added that Cairo, Giza and Qalioubiya still have the highest infections rates.
Egypt is prepared for a second wave of covid-19, deputy head of the state’s anti-covid task force Jihan El Assal said in an interview on Good Morning Egypt on Sunday (watch, runtime: 16:59). “There are comprehensive preparations by the health ministry for any second wave of coronavirus. If it happens, we have a plan for that,” she said.
