A juvenile criminal court in Cairo Saturday sentenced a 16-year-old boy to 15 years in prison for making bombs.
Prosecutors accused Nour El-Din Saleh, who was arrested at his home in Cairo in October last year, of blowing up a police vehicle, manufacturing bombs and detonating them from a distance.
In a separate case also on Saturday, the same court sentenced another 15-year-old boy to three years in prison for joining a banned group and manufacturing bombs.
Both verdicts can be appealed.
Egypt has witnessed frequent militant attacks, including bomb attacks, since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.
A large number of his supporters were arrested and received jail terms for violence-related charges.
