The Egyptian military has deployed around vital installations in Cairo, state media reports, before “Friday of Anger” protests called for by backers of deposed President Mohamed Morsi.
The Health Ministry puts the death toll from Wednesday’s violence at 578; the Brotherhood says the government is hiding a much bigger number.
