Egypt keen on maintaining sovereignty of Iraq: Spokesman

Egypt is deeply concerned over the current situation in Iraq, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdel-Atti.

In a statement, he asserted Egypt’s keenness on preserving the Iraqi state, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Egypt urges all political and social powers in Iraq to solve disputes to build a strong state which can fight extremism,” he said.

He noted that Ambassador Nasser Kamel, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs, returned home from Iraq after meeting with Iraqi officials and representatives of political powers where they discussed bilateral relations and developments at the political arena.
