Egypt’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr has sent a letter of condolence to his US counterpart John Kerry expressing Egyptian government and nation’ sorrow for the lives lost on Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing.
The Spokesman for Egypt Foreign Ministry Plenipotentiary Amr Roshdy stated that the Egyptian Consulate in New York is following up the situation with the US authorities and making contacts with the members of the Egyptian community in Boston and the General Hospital, where the casualties were transferred on Monday in order to make sure that there are no Egyptian casualties in the bombings.
Of the 176 people who were treated at hospitals, at least 17 were in a critical condition and 41 in serious condition, according to hospital officials.
One of those killed was an eight-year-old boy and at least nine of the wounded were children.
US President Barack Obama warned that the perpetrators will “feel the full weight of justice”.
