Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said on Tuesday that Egypt appreciates Bahrain’s support following the 30 June revolution of 2013 at a joint press conference with Bahraini King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa.
“The Egyptian people will never forget your visit as the first Gulf leader to Egypt following the June 30 revolution,” al-Sisi said at the press conference held at Cairo’s Ittihadiya Presidential Palace following a joint business forum.
al-Sisi stressed Egypt’s “permanent stand” with Bahrain against any external threats.
“I’m sure that the uniqueness of the relationship between Egypt and Bahrain on all levels represents a real power that allows us to counter joint challenges in a way that protects our stability and security and the constant attempts of interference in our domestic Arab affairs,” al-Sisi said.
Bahrain’s King Al-Khalifa said that Egypt and its president and people share a special status for Bahrain, expressing his happiness over the cooperation and the signing of memorandums of understanding between the two countries.
The Bahraini king expressed support for Egypt in its call to form a joint Arab military coalition, adding that Bahrain is facing “flagrant interference” from Iran in its domestic affairs.
The Egyptian president bestowed the Order of the Nile medal, Egypt’s highest state honour, on the Bahraini king during his two-day visit to Cairo.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of 11 memorandums of understanding in different fields during the joint business forum held in Cairo, as well as several joint programs in a visit aimed at boosting “strong historical ties” between both countries and addressing recent regional and internal developments.
