Brotherhood Key Strategists’s Relatives Reported Dead on Rabaa Events

The daughter of the Muslim Brotherhood’s chief strategist and her husband have been killed during the ongoing clashes erupted in Rabaa Al-Adaweya on Wednesday morning. The Egyptian security forces announced their plan early Wednesday to start clearing out the two major protest camps who are demanding the reinstatement of the deposed president Mohamed Morsi.

Muslim Brotherhood’s official Facebook page has confirmed that the chief strategist Khairat El-Shater’s daughter Hafsa and her husband have been killed during the clashes on Wednesday.

Additionally, there was another news reported that Asmaa; the daughter of another leading brotherhood member Mohamed El-Beltagy was killed  during the ongoing unrest.

Khairat al-Shater is a main strategist of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party and former deputy supreme guide of the Brotherhood until he resigned on March 31st 2011 to run for president. A multimillionaire businessman and engineer by profession, al-Shater made his fortune in the furniture and textile business and has been a key financer of the Brotherhood. He was imprisoned by the Mubarak regime in 2007 on charges of fraud and only released in March 2011.

He was the Brotherhood’s presidential candidate from March 31, 2011, until he was disqualified on April 17, 2012. Al-Shater endorsed Mohamed Morsi for president on April 18, 2012.
