Brotherhood Ex-Youth Minister Receives 15-Day Detention For Muqattam Violence

by Amwal Al Ghad English

On Wednesday, southern Cairo prosecution services ordered a 15-day detention, pending investigation, of former Muslim Brotherhood Youth Minister Osama Yassin on charges of inciting the killing of protesters at the Brotherhood headquarters in Cairo’s Muqattam district.

On 30 June, eight were killed and several more injured during clashes between opponents and supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi at the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters.

A dozen prominent Brotherhood leaders and hundreds of members, as well as senior Islamist figures have been arrested over the past week, the majority of whom have been accused of inciting violence.

These mass arrests have occurred in the wake of the dispersal by security forces of two pro-Morsi protest camps in Cairo.
