Britain’s ruling Conservative Party announced on Monday the new Prime Minster Liz Truss replacing Boris Johnson, as she wins over the former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak with 81,326 votes.
Members who voted reached 82.6 percent as Truss has taken around 57 percent of the vote while Sunak achieved 42 percent of the vote.
Truss intended to deliver what the government promised for voters in 2019 and said she would push a “bold plan to cut taxes” and grow the British economy.
In addition to that she will deal with long-term issues regarding the country’s energy supply too, Truss said took to the stage to thank her supporters.
Truss does not automatically become prime minister on Monday as Boris Johnson has to tender his resignation first to Queen Elizabeth II, who then appoints Truss.
