Counselor Hatem Bagato, the Secretary General of the Higher Presidential Elections Commission said yesterday that the HPEC has taken all measures and preparations for holding the presidential elections in full fairness and transparency.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Bagato said the arrangements were meant to make it easy for Egyptian voters to participate in the voting process.
The Commission believes in the importance of promoting channels of communication with the mass media for their main role in raising public awareness of voting, said Bagato.
He said the Commission decided to apply the rule of “a judge for every ballot box.”
Bagato denied statements fanned by some websites about the rigging of the election at some polling stations, where overseas Egyptians had voted.
Bagato asserted no one will benefit from the rigging of the voting.
He added that the data base of voters is based on their IDs as per amendments which were introduced into the law on exercising political rights, according to SIS.
