Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil, who heads the high-ranking Egyptian delegation, arrived in Ethiopia early on Monday to participate in the funeral of the deceased Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi.
The Egyptian ambassador to Ethiopia, Mohamed Idris, asserted that the Egyptian PM’s visit is to show solidarity with Ethiopian people.
The ambassador said this is the first exterior of Dr Hesham Kandil, since he came to the office. The first Egyptian- Ethiopian meeting is expected after the funeral, as the Egyptian PM, during his visit, will meet with the acting PM Hailemariam Desalegn so as to enhance the ties between the two countries.
The Ethiopian government is organizing the official funeral of the deceased Prime Minister, who passed away on 20th August, in Brussels. More than 20 presidents and 27 delegations, headed by their PM, and 650 delegations of different countries will participate in the funeral.
