Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah border crossing with Gaza Strip on Saturday for three days to allow the passage of students and elderly in need for treatment, Palestinain news agency WAFA reported.
The crossing in northern Sinai is the only way for 1.8 million Palestinians living in Israeli-besieged Gaza to enter and exit the strip.
Gaza has been under Israeli siege since 2006.
Since October 2014, the crossing has been more or less closed by Egyptian authorities due to security concerns.
Cairo periodically opens the border to allow civilians with foreign passports, Palestinian students, and those with medical needs to travel back and forth.
The crossing was last opened temporarily in late January.
