Khaled Ali Refuses Junta’s Constitutional Amendments

by Administrator

Khaled Ali, Egypt’s Presidential Candidate, said he refuses any constitutional amendments by the military junta that limit the president’s powers; as he sees the president’s powers in the current constitutional declaration are enough. He added that “Article 28 which concerns the decisions of the higher presidential elections committee should be amended”.

Ali warned of the new constitutional declaration suggested by the military council. The aim of these amendments is to limit the forthcoming president’s powers for the military council. “The military council claim that these amendments will let the president to dissolve the parliament, but in fact, these amendments concern the relation between the president and the military council”, he added.

Ali said he will not stand down for any of the candidates; calling on the candidates who talk about standing down to stop. He also called for releasing the detainees of Abbassiya incidents.
