Sweden to take part in Egypt Economic Development Conference

An official Swedish delegation will be participating at the Egypt Economic Development Conference, taking place in Sharm Al-Sheikh from 13 to 15 March 2015. The delegation will be headed by Maja Fjaestad, State Secretary at the Swedish Prime Minister’s Office, who will be accompanied by the Swedish Ambassador to Egypt, Charlotta Sparre.

Swedish companies such as ABB, Scania, Cleanergy, EPC Sweden Group, as well as the Swedish Trade and Invest Council, will participate at the conference.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Swedish Ambassador to Egypt said: “Sweden has strong and historic trade relations with Egypt whether through the private sector or development cooperation work. Our participation to the conference is a clear indication of our willingness to further increase and develop these relations.”

The conference will also be an opportunity for highlighting the Swedish experience in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship which might be of benefit to Egypt’s economic growth and contribute to job creation in the country.

Egypt is Sweden’s first largest market in Africa and among the largest in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2014, Swedish exports to Egypt increased by 26% compared to the year 2013, with a total export value of US$1 billion.
