Finland Lifts Travel Ban on Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh

by Yomna Yasser

Finland has lifted its travel warnings for Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh city by virtue of improved political and security situation, Egyptian Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou announced Wednesday.

This comes after several European countries, including Germany, Italy, Ireland, Danmark, Spain, and France, had recently lifted their travel warnings for the cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh.

In this respect, the Egyptian Minister has hailed the European states’ decisions to lift travel warning to his country as ‘positive indications’ towards reviving tourism industry.

Zaazou has been trying to remove all such warnings imposed by European countries since February, when a bomb blast on a tour bus in South Sinai killed three South Koreans and their Egyptian driver and raised concerns about safety in Red Sea resorts.
