The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official spokesman, Ambassador Badr Abdel-Attai said Monday that the Egyptian embassy in Libya and the Egyptian consulate in Benghazi are in the process of trying to confirm whether 100 Egyptians are lost on the Southern Tobruk-Ajdabiya road.

Ambassador Abdel-Attai added that the 100 Egyptians allegedly entered Libya illegally, and that the Egyptian embassy is holding talks with the Libyan tribes in order to officially confirm reports.

Earlier Monday, a media official from the security operations room in the city of Tobruk in Libya announced that nearly 100 Egyptians were lost in the Libyan Desert during an immigration attempt, and that security forces were searching for them.

The Toburk city office also added that an Egyptian citizen was killed and another 16 Egyptians were injured during another immigration attempt in the area, after refusing to stop at a Libyan border-guard checkpoint.
