Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Motaleb said there are no plans to price the irrigation water, referring to the State efforts to improve the services offered to farmers.
In statements to Al-Ahram newspaper, the Minister said the rice-cultivated lands consume up to four billion cubic meters of water annually, which could be invested in the cultivation of one million new feddans through applying modern irrigation methods.
