by Administrator

A lawsuit has been filed to Egypt’s Administrative Court to obligate the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to refer the sukuk law to Al-Azhar’s Senior Scholars Council before it is approved.

Ali Ayoub, General Coordinator of Egypt’s Institutions Defense Front, has raised the lawsuit to ensure that the sukuk law will be revised by Al-Azhar’s grand clerics, to see if it complies with Islamic sharia or not, as per the article no. 2 of the constitution which states that Islamic sharia is the principal source of legislation in Egypt as well as article no. 4 which stipulates that the opinion of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar must be sought for all affairs related to Islamic Sharia Law.
