Egypt’s Morsi Arrives In Pakistan

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi along with some senior ministers and business leaders arrived Monday on a one-day visit, on the invitation of Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari.

Diplomats of Gulf and Arab countries and Senator Mushahid Hussein Syed and other government officials received Morsi, in addition to some officials of the Egyptian Embassy in Islamabad, led by the Egyptian ambassador, Saeed Hendam.

During his stay in Islamabad, Morsi will meet his counterpart Asif Ali Zardari at luncheon and hold delegation-level talks with the top officials.

The two leaders are expected to hold extensive discussions on all areas of bilateral relations, including regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to state television, Egypt and Pakistan would sign eight deals during Morsi’s short visit to the South Asian country.

This is the first of any Egyptian president to Pakistan since 1960 when then president Gamal Abdel Nasser visited Islamabad. Morsi will later fly to India on three-day visit focused trade.
