State-run Telecom Egypt, one of the marine cables operators in the Middle East, and EXA Infrastructure, a pioneering European company in the field of marine cables infrastructure, signed an agreement to consolidate international data traffic, as per a Cabinet statement on Tuesday.
Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the signing of the agreement.
This agreement is aimed at enhancing international data traffic movement through the WeConnect system, strengthening Egypt’s position as a vital hub for direct connections to Europe.
Moreover, it extends EXA Infrastructure’s reach from Europe to Egypt’s coasts, establishing a unified service point for international movement from the Middle East and Asia to Europe.
Under this partnership, EXA Infrastructure shall provide flexible options for directing traffic from Egypt to any point within Europe through landing stations owned by the Egyptian Telecommunication Company on the Mediterranean Sea.
This strategic collaboration utilises the WeConnect system, facilitating smooth access to key European points via EXA Infrastructure’s advanced infrastructure.
