Dr. Mohamed Bahaa El-Din, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, has revealed that all the Nile Basin countries agreed to participate in the coming extraordinary meeting of the Basin ministerial meeting due on February 25th in Rwanda’s Capital City Kigali.
The ministerial meeting aims to hold serious dialogue, debate visions and make new proposals for the purpose of getting through the current crisis resulted from the one-sided agreements as seen in the signing of the Entebbe Convention by the upstream countries; Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya.
Moreover, Bahaa El-Din has stated that Egypt is ready to sign the Framework agreement for the Nile Basin countries which is known as Entebbe Convention.
Egypt is to ready to review its official position, if the coming meeting results in a compromise formula approved by all the parties and the downstream countries; Egypt and the Sudan, the Minister added to Al-Ahram Arabic newspaper.
Furthermore, he added that Egypt has no reservations about making the vote by majority among the convention member countries.
