Berlin Film Festival has selected award-winning Egyptian filmmaker Ayten Amin to be one of three people on the panel for the GWFF and the only Arab and Egyptian artist participating in the festival, according to its statement on Wednesday.

One of her most known series Sabea Gar, which she wrote and directed alongside Heba Youssry and Nadine Khan, was praised for its authentic representation of Egyptian family dynamics and its diverse, multidimensional female characters.

She born in Alexandria in 1978, first studied film criticism at the Egyptian Cinema Writers & Critics Association and then film at the American University in Cairo (AUC) before beginning her career as a director.
