Australia’s island Tasmania is seeking to become a global leader in producing and exporting green hydrogen, as its electricity grid reached 100 percent renewable with the main power provider.
The future for green hydrogen aligned with the state, delegates of the Tasmanian Energy Development Conference, assured.
Hydro Tasmania producing a generation capacity about 2.6 gigawatts (GW), which is more than double what it typically provides to the grid at any time, according to a columnist in Reuters.
Moreover, it is operating wind farms and plans to add another 3 GW of new turbines.
If this development goes ahead it will allow Hydro Tasmania to proceed with upgrading existing power stations to boost output.
Hydro Tasmania is a Tasmanian government business enterprise which is the predominant electricity generator in the state.
