Six Mexican tourists died Friday and twenty-five others suffered injuries after a bus overturned in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula near the touristic and religious vacation spot, Saint Catherine’s Monastery.
Head of the South Sinai security directorate Mahmoud Henfawi stated that the bus carrying no less than forty Mexican tourists fell over and caught on fire.
Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website reported that twelve ambulances went to the scene following the accident and transported the casualties to the Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital to receive the needed treatment.
Road conditions throughout Egypt are often poor and result in a large number of road accidents. A similar accident took place in October 2012 when a police truck overturned and killed 21 soldiers.
