Xylem has over 1,500 products and brands and the studies aim to select the optimal product to serve the North Africa region.

The anticipated plant will target the Agadir Agreement’s and the African trade bloc COMESA countries, Chirouze added.

The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa or COMESA countries are 19 countries include: Burundi, Comoros, Congo, Dem Republic, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Agadir Agreement’s member countries are Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.

The company plans to complete its feasibility studies and start actual steps towards building its facility in Egypt by late 2022, Mohamed Shetta, Xylem’s Country Manager for Egypt, said.

Xylem has recently opened its office in Egypt, which will serve as a hub for the North Africa region, and provide enhanced levels of service, innovation, and support for current and future customers across North Africa and the Middle East.

“Launching Egypt office is a milestone for a long-running relationship between Xylem, Egypt, and surrounding countries. We have more plans for the region.” Xylem said in a statement.

“The booming Egyptian economy encourages Xylem to introduce more technologies and solutions in the water infrastructure sector, especially wastewater and irrigation treatments, and expansions into the utility market and national mega projects.” Shetta in earlier statement.
