Egypt discussed with the World Bank the latest developments of the Local Development Programme for Upper Egypt which is funded by $500 million, while praising the projects progress.
Sahar Nasr, The Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, talked this over during her meeting with the World Bank delegation, headed by Axel Baumler, Chief Infrastructure Economist at the WB.
The delegation of the World Bank reviewed the results of the minister’s visit to the Sohag and Qena governorates and her meetings with program officials, praising progress in implementing program projects according to schedule.
Baumler emphasized the bank’s keenness on continuing its full support to Egypt’s infrastructure projects, especially the Upper Egypt Development Program in the coming period.
He praised Egypt’s recent economic legislation that contributed with the improvement of the business climate and made it possible to attract more investments to Egypt, especially the Upper Egypt.
On the other hand, Nasr emphasizes the importance of accelerating the implementation of the Upper Egypt Development Programme that include has a 27 projects in Sohag and 19 projects in Qena serving 8.2 million people in both governorates and contribute to creating more job opportunities for youth and women in the more needy places.
